Presenters at this year’s Ag Innovation Showcase in St Louis (see table below) were selected from among more than 60 innovative early stage food and agriculture companies. Many of the presenting companies base their innovations on the use of (big) data.
The ability to collect and analyze data and discern patterns in information continues to evolve, going beyond the ability to describe the status quo to developing machine learning that will predict outcomes and prescribe decisions in all areas of farming and food production.
This year’s cohort are providing promising solutions for diverse problems across the food and agriculture system that include:
- stabilizing beneficial microbes and pollen enabling wider and more effective utilization
- inputs for crop and animal production such as genetics, nutrition and protection
- novel food ingredients and enhanced food safety
- systems for improved weather forecasting, financial management, and farm operations
